“Little Women,” Louisa May Alcott’s ever-popular novel about three girls growing up during the Civil War, is now a powerful and charming musical, winning audiences for the 24th Street Theatre in Sacramento. At the story's center is Jo (Kelly Daniells), who spurns the love of neighbor Laurie (Tristan Rumery), preferring to defy convention and become a writer. The story takes us through trials and triumphs, mainly of women, during this perilous age.
The show continues through March 29 at 2791 24th Street, south of Highway 50, with performances at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $15 and $20, available at (916) 207-1226 or at http://www.runawaystage.com/.
